ORBS ARE NOT GHOSTS!
Lets talk ‘Orbs’. Over the past few years I've seen an increase of ‘Orb’ Photos and ‘Orb’ debates across the various paranormal forums and web sites. So much so that its actually starting to become worrisome. Lets seriously look at what an ‘Orb’ is, its a name given to an airborne contaminant be it dust, bugs or moisture caught in a photo or piece of video footage, nothing paranormal and something very natural, this is a proven fact. 10yrs ago (at least) many theories surfaced as to what these disc like additions to our photos were. I mean we didn’t see them when we took the photo so they must be a ghost or more popular belief was they were angels watching over us. Dave Oster of the International ghost hunters society who claims to be a doctor, minister, Reiki master, and what ever else on line diploma he has, coined the phrase and came up with the orb theory. Everyone bought into this theory and no research was ever done to back it up. This was later dismissed due to knowledge gained and research done, but then there are still those who believed these discs are some sort of sign of paranormal activity. People say some orbs have faces, different colors mean different types of spirits and so on and so on. The theories came away from Angles and onto Energy, the phenomenon known as Orbs. In an attempt to justify the claims some form of scientific reasoning was applied. “Ghosts are a form of energy, and they require additional energy to manifest. ‘Orbs’ are balls of energy that's why we see them. Energy is light/heat therefore a Spirit would draw the energy from these ‘Orbs’ in an attempt to Manifest” Even though there’s NO evidence scientifically or spiritually that any of this is true. Einstein’s theory was that we (humans) are a form of energy, and that energy doesn’t dissipate therefore has to go somewhere, when we die the chemical elements of our body return to the earth while the energies go else where. The Orb theories have been 'debunked' over the past 2/3yrs. This is due to technology getting better and people actually seeking knowledge and actually researching the subject. The only reason (that I can see) people still cling to the 'Orb' theory (which as stated is no longer a theory) is because they want to come away from an investigation with evidence of a haunting, with photos of Ghosts. The paranormal field will NEVER get the chance to 1. be taken seriously if we continue to ignore scientific fact and 2. NEVER be able to move forward simply because these new groups crop up with out the knowledge and begin arguing about a topic they no nothing about, but instead learned about orbs while watching 3yr old reruns of Ghost Hunters. What’s worse is the groups that claim to have been around for about 10yrs or so still cling to the old beliefs, never furthering themselves and basically remaining in the dark as far as knowledge is concerned. Knowledge is power, and with this power is the responsibility to teach others and pass on your knowledge. But these people must be willing to learn, and accept that at times they need to let go of their initial understanding, otherwise these people will be the ones holding us back, these groups/researchers are part of the reason that the field is rather static right now. Teams are content on doing the same thing every time, not experiment with new tools and to not go out an gain more knowledge. The Earth isn’t flat, accept it. The paranormal field is a field of theory, I know this. And everyday there's a new theory about a theory which came from another theory but where do you draw the line? Why keep fighting this? NO serious investigator will submit an ‘Orb’ photo as a piece of evidence, not only will they be laughed at but they will lose any creditability they may have had. The 'ORB' Theories are DEAD. Please lets move on. The following examples came for the internet, unfortunately they didn't have any indication as to who put the time into doing this but I'd certainly like to thank them, here you will see many dust and bug pictures but NOTHING paranormal.... These are colored orbs of dust and pollen.
These are dust and moisture orbs.
This is what dust and pollen and moisture orbs look like when moving.
These are bugs.
